Moodflows - AI voice journal and mood tracker

Moodflows is a voice journaling app for iPhone and iPad. Users talk through their day instead of typing, and the app turns each recording into a transcript, a mood reading and suggested next steps. Over time those entries build into mood trends and weekly reports.

Lightrains built Moodflows and publishes it on the App Store, where it launched in October 2025 as a free app in Health & Fitness. An Android version is listed on the site as coming soon.

The problem

Written journals ask for time and a keyboard, and a typed note loses how something was said. Moodflows starts from the voice: speaking is faster than writing, and tone carries information that text drops.

That raises a second problem. A voice journal holds some of the most personal data a phone can record, so people need to know where it lives and who can read it.

Talk to Zenera

Moodflows screens: talking to Zenera, choosing to talk, type or record, and the settings screen with storage and security options

Entries start with Zenera, the in-app listener. The user can talk, type or record, and Zenera follows along with whatever they share.

From recording to insight

When the user finishes, Moodflows analyzes the entry and shows the result before it is saved:

  • Overall mood for the entry, such as Happy
  • Emotions detected, with the option to add more
  • Topics detected, such as travel or friends
  • The recording itself, with the full conversation one tap away

The analysis uses sentiment, tone and archetype mapping. From it, the app suggests goals, action items and reminders tied to what the user talked about.

Mood tracking and weekly reports

The home screen shows the current mood, the month’s journal entries and the week’s moods at a glance. The Mood Board breaks moods down by day across a week, month or all time, with daily journaling and mood stability tracked alongside. A weekly report summarizes moods, progress and the main insights from the week’s entries.

Privacy first

Users choose where their journal lives: encrypted storage on the device or secure cloud sync. Recordings and insights are never shared or sold, and the app has no ads.
